🥕Join us for a fun community event on Sunday, August 4th from 10am to 3pm at our Eden Hall Campus in Gibsonia, PA.

🌱Learn from incredible local growers who are looking to explore offering workshops as a way to diversify their revenue. Educational programming like workshops can be a powerful way for farmers to bolster their income stream and share knowledge with the community!

 
 

Schedule

session 1: 10am - 11:30pm ($15 per workshop)

Workshop 1 : The Wonderful World of Peppers with Trina Goggins

Location: Lodge Kitchen

Join the owner of TheHoodGarden Micro Farm in an interactive workshop where you will learn about growing and processing chili peppers. We will discuss the differences of the heat levels, the flavor, health benefits, and many other aspects of these unique spicy fruits while making hot sauce that can be enjoyed and taken home to share. If you dare!

Workshop 2: How to Grow & Dye with Indigo with Justin Lubecki

Location: Dairy Barn

In this workshop participants will learn about the process of growing and caring for, and harvesting the indigo plant. Then we will take a new harvest of indigo and demonstrate the process of transforming it into pigment. Finally, we will prepare an indigo vat and everyone will have a chance to dye fabric they get to take home.


lunch: 11:45AM - 1:15PM (free to all attendees)

Provided at no cost to all workshop attendees! Lunch will be catered by AB Kitchen and PopWorld. Please note your dietary restrictions in your registration!


Session 2: 1:30pm - 3:00pm ($15 per workshop)

Workshop 3 : Preserve Your Bounty! with Hannah Hitchens

Location: Lodge Kitchen

This workshop will take you from start to finish to preserve peaches through water bath canning.  You’ll learn the basics of water bath canning, get instructions and the recipe guide, sample the jam, and take home a 4 oz portion.

Workshop 4 : Making Fire Cider - Food as Medicine with Ebony Evans ***SOLD OUT***

Location: Dairy Barn

Participants will learn about an old folk lore on how to make an all natural tonic from vegetables and herbs that will help them ward off allergies, colds and the flu.
